Import Iberia selects and import wines from the Iberian Peninsula and other wines from around the world. We specialize in Spanish wines and believe these wines offer some of the best value in the world. The wines in our portfolio represent the culmination of a long and exhaustive selection process. We only pick wines that are always great values and offer consumers high quality wines at a great price.

Import Iberia based in Forest Lake, Minnesota partners with distributors in Minnesota, Florida, and Wyoming.  We are always interested in working with distributing partners in other states as well.

Padron Peppers 2012!
Pimiento de Padron are yummy frying peppers originating in Galicia, Spain. They are fried in olive oil then salted and are treasured throughout Spain. We consumed a boatload of these during visits to Spain.  We are working with the Minnesota Food Association to produce them in Minnesota. They are in the field and ready sometime in July or early August.

New Year, Big Changes

As the new year arrives Import Iberia will be expanding our direct marketing and sales activity.  This will include sponsoring events,  wine maker dinners,  and also a summer Spanish wine festival is in the works. 

We are pleased to announce the addition of two people will be helping with these and other strategic endeavors:

Jeni Meier will be directing sales and marketing, operations, and helping with wine sourcing and a liaison to suppliers.  She holds a MBA degree, is fluent in Spanish, and has a life-long passion for wine and Spanish food and culture.

Amy Lauria will be helping with promotion, media, and event organization. She is also an expert on social media and viral marketing.  She is also the President of Spotlight Business Solutions.

 
Attend a Sample Tasting

Periodically we have informal gatherings to try new wines that are being considered to be added to our line.  These samples often range from very serious to mass market wines that cater to a variety of price points and tastes from  sophisticated wine lovers to neophytes.  As such I like to get a diverse population to gather opinions and invite a cross section of people to these gatherings.

If you are interested in attending please send me an email.  We are happy to see new faces!  The events  happen at irregular intervals and are held in Forest Lake, MN typically on weekday evenings.   It's very informal and we provide the Tapas.

J Miquel Jane Blanc de Blancs Wine of the Week

J Miquel Jane is the Wine of the Week in the Minneapolis Star Tribune (thanks to Bill Ward, Liquid Assets).

Lara O Crianza Available

Lara O Crianza is a Tempranillo from a new winery Bodegas Fusion in Ribera del Duero.  Cristina Alonso and Fernando Ortiz are young and enthusiastic winemakers that have combined their experience in the wine industry to create a company that produces exceptional wines that preserve old world style but appeal to new world tastes and style.

Protos Roble and Crianza Arrive

Protos Red Wines Arrive

We've just added Protos Roble and Crianza in addtion to Protos Veredejo.The Roble is a Tempranillo from Ribera del Duero lightly oaked for 5 months in American oak.  The Crianza is an iconic wine in Spain and superbly crafted and one of the finest from this standout region.  We will be offering this in both 750ml and 375ml formats.

New Wines from Penedes and Priorat

The opposite sidebar announces several new wines we are offering.  I (Jeff) had the opportunity to visit Cellar Cal Costas and Mas Garrian on a recent trip to Spain.  Both wineries are small and their wines show the dedication and individuality that family run businesses have to offer.  We are very excited to share their wines with our customers.

Our catalog consists of a wide range of wines representing a cross section of the many DO's in Spain including Rioja, Ribera del Duero, and Priorat.  The line was developed also with a wide range of price points to meet all budgets but still offering the outstanding quality and value Spanish wines represent.

Import Iberia is headquartered in Forest Lake, Minnesota USA.  We work with distributors in Minnesota and other states in our region.  Our primary territory is the Twin Cites area of Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota.  The Twin Cities is a rapidly growing wine market with a well-educated populace who are quick to embrace wines that offer value and quality.

TEU Arbequina Olive Oil

Family Estate Produced
The TEU extra virgin olive oil comes from a 10 hectares estate located in "Els Omellons" 10 km from Borges Blanques (40 km southeast of Llleida, Spain).

The estate, set out in terraces, suffers from quite extreme temperatures and an important lack of water that together with hard work on the land and the trees produces an olive oil of character and ensures its high quality.  TEU is a fine olive oil characterized by the personality derived from the olive (Arbequina), extreme climate, and special features of the soil.

Taste
TEU olive oil is fruity, made of fresh green olives with notes of leaves and grass.  It is reminiscent of green almonds, tomato, and ripe fruits. This oil has a light, delicate, fruity flavor unlike any other oil from Spain. Its soft, low acidity makes it ideal for dipping, salads, fish, meat and steamed vegetables. 0.1% maximum acidity.

Import Iberia has added serveral new wines to our collection: 

Mas del Camperol is a highly rated (92 Wine Avocate) from Mas Garrian  in D.O.C. Priorat

Two wines originating from  Cellars Cal Costas under the J. Miquel Jane label in D.O. Penedes:  A Blanc de Blancs consisting of a delicious blend of Xarel-lo, Chardonnay, and Parellada and a Semi-Crianza blend of Merlot and Cabernet Savignon.  Cellars Cal Costas is a small family run winery in the heart of Penedes.

We are also excited to add Bodegas Protos 100% Verdejo to our collection.  This is a light, crisp, refreshing Verdejo from Rueda, the epicenter of Verdejo's.

An outstanding Reserva from Rioja. We are very excited about the Hazana wines.  This Reserva is one of the finest wines from Rioja that we've tasted.  Creamy, with vanilla tones, well rounded tannins and supremely well-balanced.  The persistance on the palette is amazing.  We received limited quantities and expect it to sell out soon.
